Life beyond the journal

Or, what I've been doing with myself for the past couple of years. Completely unwittingly I have managed to stumble into a journal-hosting thingummy where I actually know people and people actually know me. Go figure! Time to catch up both of my loyal readers.

So, in the year and a half or so since I yanked my old journal off of sff.net I have:

Remained married (which is a good thing!) Jack is a terrific husband and wonderful partner. Husbands are like waffles--you throw the first one out. I definitely think I got it right this time.

Become knocked up again and subsequently bore said child. After my miscarriage (which remains one of the most awful experiences I have ever gone through) I waited about four months and then returned to the clinic. And, through an amazing stroke of luck, I got pregnant again on the first try via Intra-Uterine Insemination. The pregnancy was a very easy one except for developing gestational diabetes in my third trimester (a drawback to being of "advanced maternal age") for which I ended up having to give myself daily insulin injections. Bah. Fortunately it disappeared the instant the cord was cut. And as soon as I was allowed solid food I had a donut. Because of the diabetes and the risk of babykins being enormous, I had a scheduled c-section, which went utterly smoothly, and Anna Helene was born at 7:26 am on April 26th, 2004, weighing 8.78 pounds and measuring 20".

Changed job duties at the Sheriff's office. I can't remember where I left off in the journal before, but after working as a street cop for about 2 1/2 years I became a detective and worked in white collar for about a year (which I totally detested) and then when I got knocked up again I managed to worm my way over to the crime lab, where I am now finally doing what I was trying to do as a detective, i.e. computer forensics. Yes, I am a nerd again.

Bought a new house. Big ole two story thing that has room for another baby if I can talk Jack into it.

Ummm.. I guess that's about it in a nutshell. I'm deeply enjoying every second of watching Anna grow up. Before she was born I never knew that I could love another human being this much. She's six months old now and growing fast. She's in the 70th% for weight and is above 100% for height. I sneak into her room at night and whisper, "Basketball Scholarship!"
