Well, I'm back at work after an unintended five-day weekend. I'm still exhausted though since my sleep was pretty well broken up last night even though Jack was the one who had charge of Anna. That's the drawback to being the Milk Lady--I still get woken up when she gets hungry. I managed to nurse her twice last night even though she was clearly uncomfortable, but this morning all the coaxing and soothing and singing were pretty useless. She'd latch on but as soon as she tried to suck she would pull off crying. I'm sure it's the big sore under her tongue that's rubbing against her teeth when she tries to nurse. My poor baby! She wasn't even that interested in a bottle I made up for her. I was thinking she might do all right with that because it's a different method of sucking, but no go. When I left the house Anna was asleep on Jack in the recliner, so maybe she got enough from gumming the bottle to appease her.

Jack is staying home with Anna today, but then he's going out of town for the rest of the week to go to a DA's conference in Lafayette. What wonderful timing. Sigh. So, I'll probably end up taking tomorrow off of work too. Fortunately my sister agreed to babysit on Thursday, and then hopefully Anna will be better enough that I can bring her to work with me on Friday so that I don't have to burn up too much vacation with all of this.
