Hack cough wheeze part deux

Okay, so as most of you have probably figured out, I am a pretty big supporter of breastfeeding. I exclusivly breastfed Anna (no solids or formula) until she was just shy of six months, and hope to continue breastfeeding her for two years. I'm a believer in the health benefits for both mother and baby, and I'm also a huge fan of how easy and cheap breastfeeding is. I absolutely love that I can jump in the car with my baby to go somewhere and not have to make up bottles beforehand. I love that if she wakes in the middle of the night I don't really have to wake up all the way to feed her and get her back to sleep. I love the very special bonding involved in breastfeeding and the smiles she gives me after she pulls off and looks up at me just make me melt every time.

But, I've pretty much decided that the saying that breastfed kids get sick less often is a huge steaming pile of Bullshit. Yes, folks, Anna is sick once again. She has a big flashing sign over her head that says, "Viruses welcome here!" Now she has bronchiolitis from RSV along with two major ear infections. I have to give her nebulizer breathing treatments around the clock for at least a week. The weird thing is that she is not acting sick at all, and really isn't coughing much either. In fact it wasn't until she started running a fairly substantial fever (103) last night that I had any clue that she was sick enough to need a visit to the ped.

Oh, I know... you say, "Well just think how often she'd be sick if you didn't breastfeed!" Good grief, if that's the case the kid would have expired by now. Sigh. Ya just gotta love daycare, AKA disease central.
