2004-12-21 9:12 AM Is Christmas over yet? I finally got my car back this morning--my departmental vehicle that is. I dont think I mentioned before that said vehicle broke down on the way to work on Thursday. Fortunately, being a department-issued vehicle, they sent a tow truck out and took it to Maintenance and got it fixed up that same day. However, I'd retrieved my POV by that time and was thus unable to get my DIV home since driving two cars at once is slightly beyond me. And this weekend was such a wash I figured it was no big deal to get it later. So this morning Jack drove me in to work and I was able to retrieve my car. To my huge surprise it was not only working, but had also been washed and vaccumed out. I cringed slightly when I saw that it had been cleaned (ya gotta love convict labor) because it had really been pretty gross. I had not been expecting to break down, otherwise I would have cleaned it out! But the drive in with Jack was nice--we dropped the baby off at daycare together, then stopped at the coffee shop and got hot chocolate and pastries. I was about ten minutes late to work, but since I'm usually about twenty minutes early, no one batted an eyelash.
I am thoroughly behind on my christmas shopping. Fortunately, Mom called this morning and told me that she was going low-key and getting just dorky presents, which made me feel a lot better because I was just telling Jack that I had not clue what to get her and that I only had dorky presents for her so far. LOL About the only Cool Present I am getting anyone this year is for Jack, but since I'm not positive that he doesn't read this, I'd best not mention it here.
Jack says that the baby food companies need to start making newspaper-flavored baby food. The kids would eat it right up.
I am presently engaging in a bit of rejectomancy. Or non-rejectomancy at this point. I've had a story at F&SF for over two weeks now, and I've read on various message boards that rejections usually come with devastating swiftness from there, as in only a week or so. Dare I get my hopes up? LOL I am so silly.
I noticed that a couple of other journallers have been listing the novels that they read for the year. I decided not to do that. It might take me too long to type both titles.
