My Mother's Day

My Mother's Day was spent, for the most part, lying on the couch alternately shivering and sweating and wondering where my appetite went. Actually the morning wasn't so bad--I drove over to my mother's house and took her and our two Traveller friends (who were travelling through and partaking of mom's spare room) to breakfast. I wasn't feeling fantastic, but figured I was just tired. We tried to go to Cracker Barrel but the line was nearly to Mars, so we headed over to Shoney's and managed to get a seat in about ten minutes. (Ugh, I ended up wishing we'd waited, because the food is MUCH better at Cracker Barrel.) I think that perhaps I wasn't good company, and apologies to mom and Travellers if I was short with you, but I was already starting to feel like Death.

So, I made it home, gave PB to Jack, at which time he gave me the most wonderfullest Mother's Day present ever. He took the baby. Away. All day. He let me lie on the couch in a fevered daze. It was wonderful. (Not the fevered daze.. that was pretty un-wonderful. But the lying on the couch as opposed to chasing PB during a fevered daze was definitely more wonderful.)

I stayed home from work today since I still feel somewhat death-ish, but I'm going to have to head in tomorrow since I'm already taking Thursday and Friday off this week for the New Orleans Writer's Conference. Good thing I have a couch in my office.
