2005-08-09 11:24 AM I really do have a cool job...
This is called "being in the right place at the right time." The Powers That Be in both the school board and the various local police departments decided that it would be prudent to set up Critical Incident plans for all of the schools in the event Something Happened. You know, make a plan before Something Happens. Wow.. kinda.. logical. Anyway, part of that planning involved taking aerial photgraphs of all of the schools in the parish. (For what it's worth, there are 52 public schools and 15 private schools.) Originally one of the crime scene technicians went up in a small airplane to take pics, but there were two problems. 1) It's difficult to take decent shots out of a small airplane because you really can't maneuver very well or get low enough. And 2) the tech they sent up got airsck. So, I just happened to mention to the captain that I DON'T get airsick, in fact I used to fly. And next thing I knew I was being sent up in a helicopter flown by pilots from Customs to take the needed pictures. Woo! It took two days to get all the pics, but the pilot was way cool and took a few small side trips to let us get some gee whiz pics of non-school places. I have some neat pics of my house and my messy backyard..hahaha. I'll have to see if I can photoshop in some landscaping. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
