Celtic Music group We trekked down to Escondido tonight for to see Gaelic Storm, a Celtic music group. They have their roots in Los Angeles, and got a big jump when they appeared in Titanic. (The band playing in steerage.) The band was great. I love most of their music (some of the cuts on Tree don't do much for me), and they were delightful to watch. The fiddler went through most of the strings on her bow by the end of the night -- which is a measure of Celtic fiddling success to my mind. They also played two or three songs from their new album, which should be available in August. If those are anything like the rest of the songs on the new CD, it's going to be another must-buy for me. Alas, the crowd was the most disappointing part of the evening. In the very least, there should have been plenty of spontaneous hand-clapping, body-wiggling, head-bobbing in every seat. I looked around several times, and not so much energy to be found. This was definitely more the Mozart crowd, methinks. Definitely a fun, evening of entertainment, nonetheless! They've got an intensive tour schedule this spring, so if you like Celtic music, don't miss them! (Or at least get a copy of their CDs.)
