Hello

At long last, an update.

The revision of the novel is happening in starts and stops. There's a lot of work to do there. I did take the time to write a short story and I handed it in to the Wordos on Tuesday and I'll be handing it in to the Nexus group tonight as well. It feels good to have completed a short story although I know I'll be rewriting it. I haven't quite nailed the couple of scenes. I also had a lovely Rockaway weekend at the beginning of the month with many fellow workshoppers.

I also got a new computer, one that I'll be able to get online with. In the next month or two I'll make the switch from Webtv to an actual computer. I've even checked out Journalscape for a possible new journal home. The link will appear here soon.

Then, of course, there's the big news. Jay Lake announced his first place win in the fourth quarter of The Writers Of The Future Contest! Yay Jay! That is so damn cool. Nobody deserves it more. That is one hard working guy. With Jay, that make three years in a row that somebody from the Wordos got into the WOTF anthology. Eric Witchey two years ago and Leon West last year. Reminds me of living in Minnesota ten years ago and seeing the bunch of writers coming out of Eugene then.

Welcome all new members of the Web Rats. Out of those new members, I know Dayle from two week Oregon Coast Professional Workshop last March. Hello, Dayle!

And speaking of Web Rats, a huge congrats to Tim Pratt for getting on the Nebula Awards ballot with his story "Little Gods" from Strange Horizons. That is a great story from a great new writer IMHO. And congrats to Web Rat Heather Shaw as well for her first published story "Famishing" at Strange Horizons online now!

Much good news around.
