2003-05-18 9:18 PM Getting Heavy On Digging My Ditch Two workshops. One each weekend. One last Saturday at Kate's. When I walked into her house, there was Jay browsing the bookshelves in the entryway. We talked there for a few minutes about fast writing, writing from the sub-concious, and whether I should or shouldn't do a whole new draft of my novel. I came away from the conversation thinking that was a good idea. Later, I started to reconsider. I can see redrafting certain chapters, but I don't think the entire novel needs it. The structure, the shape of the novel is there. It is scary to redraft an entire novel, so it might be the fear of all the work. However, there is a lot of work to be done to the novel as is. And yesterday, I headed to the coast with X for Kris & Dean's workshop. I didn't get around talking about the novel progress with Dean nor Kris, but Louisa and I shared details about our novels and the process. She had redrafted some sections of her novel. It was a nice trip to the coast. I gave Dean my deposit for the Denise Little workshop in August. I want to have the novel done and to my first readers in June, so I want to make steady progress this week and beyond. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
