2004-01-12 4:56 PM After Critique I got the feedback and reader reaction I needed at Kate's workshop on Saturday. And "One point twenty-one gigawatts!" There were eight stories to read and critique with thirteen participants. Most workshops there's one or two, sometimes no stories, so this it was amazing to get so many. Everyone is starting the year out right. Or it could be that while everyone was snowed in they all wrote. Anyway, I didn't get home until two in the morning. Kate doesn't do a one minute critique rule, so the critiques take longer.
My 9/11 story is going to need more personal stakes and research into nautical issues (thanks to Jay for pointing that out). I'm not sure when I'm going to get to the rewrite of this and I don't think I want to wait too long. Kate's workshop is on the second Saturday each month and I was dissapointed to learn I was going to miss the next two months because of scheduling conflicts. That didn't last long for Kate had something going on the second Saturday so the workshop is rescheduled for Feb. 7th. Yay! I was thinking a good goal would be to bring a new story to Kate's each month I can make it. I'll miss March. November and December might be a problem. Otherwise, I'll have nine (if not more) new stories this year by doing that. And making copies for a smaller group is cheaper than making mucho copies for the Wordos.
