Mood: Uncycled Read/Post Comments (3) |
2004-01-29 8:42 PM "It's a matter of time and love." I wrote a thousand new words on the novel rewrite today. This is good. I've been procrastinating and trapped in a self-defeating behavior cycle. By writing new words before the end of the day, I have short-circuited the cycle. I can go to bed without the anxiety. Whew. Let's hope tomorrow is just as good. Today was a step in the right direction.
Yesterday I received a rejection from The Third Alternative. I've now gotten all my responses back from the stories I mailed at Eric's mailing party earlier this month. Speaking of Eric, at workshop on Tuesday he brought a letter Ray Bradbury had sent him. In it, Mr. Bradbury thanked Eric for the nice letter he had received. Since Eric had revealed his age (he's older than me and I'm thirty-four) and that he was a writer as well, Bradbury mentioned when he was Eric's age he hadn't yet written a play he was happy with. He said Eric would do fine. "It's a matter of time and love," he wrote. And Mr. Bradbury closed the letter wishing Eric love in his work. Now I want to write Ray Bradbury a fan letter.
