2004-02-06 5:16 PM Mulling Writing 1. Deadlines. I can't live with them. I can't live without them. I've said this before.
2. An external deadline is often times helpful to me for getting a story (or novel) done. 3. With an external deadline it's difficult to take the time to "do it right" because I typically use the deadline as an excuse for not doing my best. (Don't do that!) 4. I'd like to practice finishing things. At some point I have to say "This is the best I can do" or "This is all I can do for this story." 5. I have to find that balance between doing my best and letting go, as well as making those deadlines. 6. Sometimes I think too much and become neurotic about my habits and writing process. I should be printing this novel out on Tuesday and getting it to first readers and novel workshop participants on Wednesday.
