2004-02-23 9:43 PM Stalling So the story I'm finishing up for the workshop tomorrow is giving me trouble. It's stalling. Or I'm stalling. Yesterday, at Eric's place where we did something called parallel play (everybody writes for forty-five minutes, stop, take 15 min break, another forty-five minute session, repeat ad nauseam) I wrote 1500 words.
I'm beginning to see, perhaps beginning to understand that I need to know the characters goals and motives before writing a story. Yeah, this may seem obvious to most, but I tend to write intuitively or from the subconcious. I have hard time getting logical part of my brain to pitch in. There are some things I could do ahead of time to make drafting a story easier. Some things can be so damned obvious, yet so hard to do. Hey, I'm looking forward to a Rockaway this weekend. You can bet your ass I'll know a few things about my story before I begin writing there! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
