2006-06-15 12:27 PM Perfect I've recently had a great reading experience. It had been awhile since I read a novel, actually, and I was craving one. Sean Stewart's Perfect Circle had been on my shelf (or more accurately: scattered, just like everything else in the apartment) and I picked that up.
Wow. Maybe it's because I hadn't read a novel in awhile, but I don't think so. Perfect Circle was damn good. I liked Stewart's Mocking Bird, but Perfect Circle blew me away. Stewart can get the reader immersed in his character's head. Reading that novel makes me want to write. For me writing is all about emotion. I want to nail an emotion (or a feeling) down. Stewart is a Grand Master. What did I read after Perfect Circle? Well I enjoyed some Tales of the Chinese Zodiac by Journalscape's Jenn Reese and I like Dog so far. And Ox was amusing. I'm also reading Stephen King short stories from his collections, Nightmares & Dreamscapes and Everything's Eventual. Odd, I thought I wanted to read novels. I had a story idea the other day that excited me. That hasn't happen in awhile either. I'm digging in, starting to write. Short story for WOTF by the end of the month. And we're still waiting for summer here in Oregon. Come on sun: shine! Damn you, clouds, get outta the way! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
