2006-10-22 8:30 PM Boo! Last night we attended a halloween party at the home of Artist Alan Clark. He and his wife, Melody, didn't have one last year due to adding a second level above the garage. Turns out that's his new studio and the house looks great. He has all sorts of creepy artwork around the house and I had a camera handy to take pictures. We had a treasure hunt where we searched the house for various things within paintings, models, and awards. Ximena was really great at it (and she said she remembered some of the items from the last halloween party). She put my name on the paper when we handed back our lists (really, I think I found only one item) and it turned out we won. We (or she) got the most correct answers. We came home with an anthology of Elizabeth Engstrom short stories, artwork done by Alan Clark. He autographed the book for us, of course. We spent a late night there and didn't get home until after two in the morning. This is unheard of for us. Due to our early morning dayjobs we tend to cave in early, even on weekends. On weekends, we're usually home by midnight. Not last night. We spent some time talking to Alan and artist Paul Groendes after everyone else left and Melody went to bed. Good times. I've always been in awe of Alan Clark and his professionalism. He's made a living from artwork and writing and he just keeps going, and has a lot of fun doing it. Much to admire.
