God knows I've worked for a few days this week, and so far I ain't seen any dollars for it... I get paid every two weeks.
That little rant aside, today is going very mediocre. I'm kind of tired - haven't been sleeping well lately - and it feels like there's a haze over my brain and I'm listening to everything through cotton. So, of course, that makes for perfect conditions for a first-thing-in-the-morning meeting with Information Services regarding the status of our database upgrade. In short, we're way behind schedule. We've just managed to successfully move our data over to a test server, after a month of struggling to clean it up sufficiently so the new server didn't have a brain hemhorrage and die when it turned on from all the errors (extra props to the Purchasing department, who had more errors in their data than non-errors... way to go, guys!). We're supposed to have all of this done by mid-July. The part we just finished was supposed to be done in late February, early March at the latest. We're doomed. A lot. So, I slogged through a two-and-a-half hour meeting, grabbed a Coke, and came back down to my office. Nine voice mails. Nine. I didn't have nine voice mails all of last week, and in just shy of three hours I beat that mark. Five of the messages were from directors and managers, asking me questions about their employees. You know, stuff they should already know about them, and actually have at their fingertips, instead of wasting my time with it. It's now a little after one. Haven't gone to lunch yet, because I'm trying to get all this crap caught up on so this afternoon, I can start working on the current items that I should have the rest of the week to do, but the department will be closed on Friday and Monday for the Memorial Day weekend (let's hear it for small blessings - four day weekends do not suck) which means less time to finish up. I need more soda. The buzz is wearing off. Gah. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
