Today Monica drove me to Rome in order to meet Bernie, so that I could shoot a pano and some stills for him in the Capitoline Museum, the world's first such specialized building and display.

After working on the site until noon, we hit the road for Rome just as a thunderstorm with cold, heavy rain came through. Alessandra and Carmelo left the project with us, and won't be back. I slept most of the ride for simple exhaustion fighting this cold-coughing thing, whatever it is.

The shoot with Bernie went fine. He had me shoot a pair of busts he's particularly interested in, and then a pano of the room in which they are kept. While the Panoscan was working he showed me around a couple of adjoining rooms, which hold some rather famous sculptures, some of which are Roman and made of exquisite different colored marbles. I didn't get to see very much and countless art pieces like this tend to dull the brain after a while, but jeepers, if the pieces were actually labelled it would take an awfully long time to get through this place.

Bernie had a couple meetings to attend, so I wandered along the Tiber in central Rome for a couple hours (after dropping the equipment off at Monica's apartment) and found a MUCH needed place to chat online with Shelley for over an hour. That was good soul food! The very common gelato (ice cream) stores make delicious treats that suit the throat very well indeed so I had some while out.

After dark I met Monica at her place (where we watched and she translated an Italian missing-persons TV show) while waiting for Bernie to get home so that I could take a cab and get to his place for the night. He let me use his Internet connection to post that blast of journal entries and read the previous week's important e-mail, which I did until past midnight (failed wisdom check).

The room in the Capitoline Museum where we shot.

The two-faced statue of Epicurous that Bernie's working on.

A 4th-Century B.C. temple in central Rome. I forget who it's dedicated to, but it sure does look relatively old compared to some of the new stuff, say, from the 4th-Century A.D. ;-)
