2010-07-08 2:48 PM A City Slicker, Eh? *listening to All-Time Low's "Poppin'" on Youtube* Love this song! I blame my younger sister for my becoming their fan x3
I did it! I finally landed the job! I am so proud of myself. All I needed was patience, persistence, and prayer. In fact, I tell this to others almost all the time. I realized that I truly landed the job as soon as the manager told us to write down our clothing sizes for our uniforms, haha. And now my own advice has worked out for me. Cool beans! There were only eight of us at the orientation, plus the crew manager. During the orientation, all we did was fill out paperwork and did a on-phone survey. It was slightly oppressive, yes, but it was worth it. And I got this pretty snazzy folder telling us how to be good employees and benefits from working at McDonalds. All in all, it took about three hours this morning. The manager told us that he'd call us next week to continue the process and some training. Can't wait!!! After the orientation, my mother and I arranged to go to the DMV so I could take my exam to get my driver's license. (Couldn't do it yesterday because there was too many people waiting.) I waited in the lobby for about two hours (my mother was at work and didn't arrive until the last ten minutes, so she only waited a little), until my number was called. I pretty much read my book and listened to music to keep myself from dying of boredom. When it was our turn, the lady at our station, after looking at all the documents, told us that I needed to get my passport or something updated or else I can't take the test. What??? I was so ready! And I had my state ID with me, so I don't know what the problem is. *sigh* Oh well, there's always next week. As for my summer reading, I finished reading Jane Eyre. Apparently, the betrothal Mr. Rochester had was just a rumour, and he ended up marrying Jane. The ending was alright. After reading that book, I read The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery *French literature* It's basically about a little boy exploring the area around his part of the universe, inquiring about why grown-ups do this, or why grown-ups do that. It's a short story, so I finished it in one day. The next book that I finished reading was Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll. I'm not sure if it's British or American literature. I'll have to check. It's quite different from the movie version, both the animated and the one with Johnny Depp (personally, I think he looks creepy as the Mad Hatter). Jazmine's sending me a CD with some EDM on it. Can't wait for that either. Wonder what kind of tunes though *momentarily ponders* I've been out and about today that it ain't even funny. I got a headache *oww...* *is listening to Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You"* Man, if I could sing and play piano like that. Mm! That'd be epic.
