Mood: slightly bored, but the music keeps me alive. Read/Post Comments (6) |
2010-07-10 7:14 PM The Perfect Weather for Ducks *weekend stuff* It rained over the weekend. Well, it's about time, eh?
I was out in field ministry this morning. Haven't done that in a while, so I feel pretty accomplished about that. I really hope my participation will be more consistent in the following weeks. Anyways, it rained really, REALLY hard practically the entire day. I consider it both a good thing and a bad thing. The good part about it was that it was the break we needed from the insane heat wave and it was quite refreshing. The bad part about it was that no one in my group was able to do the usual door-to-door ministry. We were still able to return to interested ones from last week though, so it turned out well there too. I'm glad since we will still accomplish something anyway, rain or shine. Mama and I were in one car with Brother Pratt, Brother Rivera, and of course, my little brother. (My younger sister was in another car with three other sisters. She actually gave out her first magazine today, I'm so proud of her!) While we were talking in the car, I told Brother Pratt that I was hired as a crewmember at McDonalds. Brother Pratt, being the wise elderly gentleman he is, gave me some pointers on how to behave in a working environment, being professional with coworkers, enduring a sudden turnover, and whatnot. Brother Rivera gave me some advice too. He's only a few years older than me (I think like 24 years old or somewhere around there) so I was able to relate to him better. Anyways, we made two return visits with my mother's being the second one. Hers was with a very old woman. Her name is Mrs. Taylor (I forget her first name, I'll have to ask Mama later.) and last time Mama visited her was about two or three months ago, she was very ill. We visited her today and she apparently looked much better. She is quite perky and talkative for a 93-year-old who is living by herself! But we had a nice conversation, nonetheless. We talked maybe for about ten minutes, and then we headed back to Brother Pratt's car. After field ministry had finished, I think it was funny how it was somewhat chaotic with everyone was running to their cars so that they don't get caught in the rain. If I was not wearing a dress that time, I would not have minded. I had to use my binder as an umbrella and I was also kinda giggling while I was running to Mama's car. I love running around in the rain! Even if it is raining hard, haha. It was a fine Saturday morning indeed. I know I have not gone out to do field ministry until today but whenever I do go out, I always feel accomplished and warm inside. I just know that God is proud of me for doing that, whatever the circumstances are. That is the best part of doing it, knowing that I am doing what Jesus had asked, going from door to door, telling others hope from the Bible. I mean, he and his disciples did that too back then, right? I even looked it up and it says so in Acts 5:42 about going from house to house, that they "continued without letup." To me, that's pretty encouraging. And I always keep in mind Matthew 10:14 that if someone does not seemed interested, I would just "shake the dust off my feet" and keep going. I'm walking about on a street with my spiritual brothers and sisters, doing the work Jesus commissioned to us, so I'm content. It was still raining hard when my family returned home but we were happy. We did not really go anywhere else since the weather is too intense to do so. I definitely would not want to drive during an insane downpour. I pretty much drew in my sketchbook and listened to music. I am looking outside the window and it is dark now; I am not sure if it is still raining. There is a slight misty fog that is blanketing the fields. Earlier, I looked out the window and I saw this tall white bird near the pond. I think it was a great heron. Got nothing else to say, so I will sign off for now. See y'all later, cats and kittens. o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o 7/12/10>>>11.10>>>mood: Imma be high on sugar!!! Sorta-ridiculous content, my good people. Just letting y'all know. So yeaaah, I feel too lazy to create a separate entry for this one since it overlaps two days instead of one. I just finished watching The PowerPuff Girls movie with my younger siblings. I LOVE that movie! I have not watched it in forever. I actually remember, when we were younger, how my sisters and I would pretend each of us was a Powerpuff Girl. My older sis would be Blossom because she's the intelligent one, my younger sister would be Bubbles because she's such a happy-go-lucky kind of girl, and I would be Buttercup because I'm kinda rebellious and very much a tomboy. Anyways, pardon the stroll down memory lane, I just had two bowls of sugar-induced cereal, so that is why I am very hyper and inclined to say many things, some of which may seem, well, ridiculous! Or ridiculously cool, mwahahaha! Yesterday, my family (everyone but my older sis since she wanted to stay at home) and another family (only the parents and their oldest son, Kenneth was with us. Joy was at work and DJ was in Colorado.) from my congregation went to the beach. It is actually a beach I have not been to before, and this one did not have as much people and it was much calmer. It is mostly because of retirees, haha. Was most totally wicked awesome! I actually have not swam at the beach in forever, so I was really reluctant to go into the water, unlike my younger siblings, who immediately jumped in. The waves were pretty huge and when I was in the water, the time interval between waves was so short that I had little time to catch my breath. Was fun, nonetheless. I felt like my swimsuit was about to come off because the water was really intense. I had to go into the water with my brother and Kenneth so I would not be as scared. I got sand in really uncomfortable places...meh! Oh well. I still need to take a shower (I smell like the beach! And I still need to get rid of this sand..) and accomplish a few other things. I have to be at work at 2.00pm so I really need to hustle here. *momentarily ponders* Oh yeah! I want to share with y'all a picture I drew on Saturday. Here it is! I named it, "Music Freak." w00t!
That came straight out of my sketchbook, btw. Art is a bang. Psssh, I'm crazy. Thank God for journals! Well, that's pretty much it for today. Peace out! EDIT>>>3.32pm: Man, even all that paperwork from last week, I still needed to fill out some more paperwork. They said they're gonna call me again sometime later this week to continue orientation and whatnot. Too many processes... When will I get to actually do work? Oh well, I just have to be patient. I remember that Stan said that great things are worth waiting for, so I'm going to heed that advice =) Read/Post Comments (6) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
