So, I went to see Phantom of the Opera at the movie theater this afternoon, after not having seen it for fourteen years. Turns out, it was a bit different than I'd remembered. Many parts were cheesy, some just badly-written, it was all totally over-the-top...and of course, I still loved it. I watched it and felt 12 years old again, blissed out by the romance of it all. Not something I'm proud of, but something that's true. If you've never seen the musical, you probably won't like it...but if you loved it at age 12 (or if you have a 12-year-old daughter, the ideal audience), it's a must-see.
