When friends of ours who are normally happy dairy- and meat-eaters told us that they always use Isa Chandra Moskowitz's cookbook of vegan cupcakes, we knew they must be really good. So I ordered Vegan With a Vengeance, her general cookbook. I ordered it just so we could find some new dinners to share - but when it arrived yesterday I totally fell in love with it. God, those recipes look good, vegan or not! I already know we need to buy a waffle iron now - how can I resist the recipe for pear-and-ginger waffles? Not to mention a dozen kinds of muffins, recipes for wonderful-looking curries and Thai food, and fatty, gorgeous desserts to die for. (I'm always so pleased to find a vegetarian/vegan cookbook that realizes not all vegetarians & vegans are into health food!) Turns out there are a bunch of recipes I want to try for lunches and brunches just for myself, even when Patrick's not around. Yum, yum, yum. Today we bought ingredients for carrot-raisin muffins and curried split pea soup. I can't wait to get started!
In other good news (and in the "Wow, they're fast!" department), Pseudopod just published the audio podcast of Locked Doors! Hooray! What a great market! (They paid really quickly, too. I really like selling stories to them!) And for more online goodies...in case you haven't seen this yet, Emma Bull just posted the first two chapters of her upcoming historical fantasy novel, Territory. Gunfighters, girl reporters, and magic in the Wild West - sooooo good... I can't wait till the book comes out! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
