Five Things That Make Me Happy Today

1. Last night, as a remedy to all the stress we've been going through, we re-watched one of my favorite movies: Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband, with Rupert Everett, Minnie Driver, Julianne Moore, Jeremy Northam and Cate Blanchett. It's such a delicious movie, witty and effervescent and life-affirming, and it always makes me happy. Since buying it several years ago, Patrick and I must have watched it at least 7 or 8 times, but it's one of the few movies that feels infinitely re-watchable - the dialogue is so delectable, the acting is smart & subtle, and every time we watch it again I pick up on new nuances. Perfect!

2. Patrick's story "Dragonfly Summer" has just been published in Interzone (Issue 215). He's posted the very cool story illustration on his journal. Check it out!

3. My subscriber's copy of the April issue of Realms of Fantasy arrived yesterday and I read an absolutely beautiful story in it: "Gift From a Spring", by Delia Sherman, which combines rural France with A Midsummer Night's Dream in a really magical way. It's now my very favorite story of hers, which is saying a lot. If you aren't already a Realms subscriber, it's definitely worth hunting down this issue to read the story.

4. It looks like I will be on SFWA's Norton Award jury this year. Hurray! I can't wait to start reading.

5. And something which has made me just ridiculously happy: Maya is today's featured grown-up puppy on The Daily Puppy, my favorite non-writing website. You can see her feature here. Of course, she has no idea about any of this, but it's lovely timing for me and Patrick.
