Eastercon was wonderful. After we got home this afternoon, someone asked me what I'd done at Eastercon, and when I thought about it...well, I did really enjoy the one panel I went to ("mythology in fantasy", Saturday morning), I loved Neil Gaiman's GoH reading & talk, and Mitch Benn's concert was very, very funny and fun - but really, what I did most, all weekend, was talk to other writers, almost non-stop. And that is one of the finest pleasures I know. By midway through the con, despite an intense lack of sleep, I was buzzing with more writerly stimulation and inspiration than I have for months. Yay!

I just wish I could go to another con next weekend - except for poor Maya's sake. She hated the kennel and refused to eat, the whole weekend she was there. :( Luckily, next year's Eastercon is in Bradford, just next-door to Leeds, so we won't even have to leave her in a kennel to be able to enjoy the con.

Now I'm zonked but very happy, sitting in front of the fire wrapped up in two sweaters and waiting for our stone cottage to heat back up. (We sensibly turned down the heat before we left, to save on bills while we were gone. Unfortunately, it then snowed during the weekend and got very, very cold. Oops.) Frozen curries are heating up in the oven, sending their slightly greasy smell through the house. After dinner I'm going to curl up and re-read Barbara Michaels's House of Many Shadows.

I love going to cons. :)
