Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (0) This morning after breakfast, Patrick and I set up our writing spaces in the end room with loose-leaf Sencha green tea (for him) and rich, dark hot chocolate (for me). We both wrote for an hour while Maya snuggled against my side - and I finished the climax of Kat by Starlight! Wooot! I feel soooooo good right now. :) I figure it'll take me about 2 more chapters to wrap up all the loose threads and smaller conflicts in the book, leaving me pretty much exactly on target for a 70,000-word draft. And right now, it all just feels great.
Maya and I walked Patrick to the bus stop afterwards, on his way to work. Maya was prancing and excited about the change in her routine - she's never walked him to the bus stop before, and I think she really expected that we would go with him to work today! (If only the university would allow it...on the other hand, she might be disappointed to learn that he goes every day to a boring office, rather than to one of the beautiful parks or forests that he always takes her to for hikes.) It's a cool, breezy, sunny morning - rainshowers expected later, but exhilaratingly beautiful just now. I'm hoping to either talk a friend into going out this afternoon or else take the bus into town myself to find a good café. In the meantime, I'm reading Kelley Armstrong's first YA novel, The Summoning, which is fun and probably my favorite of her novels so far. I really, really like the heroine, especially her wonderfully-conveyed disgust at the idea that the most important thing to her in a desperate crisis situation might be getting the cutest guy in the house to like her. I am all about teenage heroines who have brains and know how to use them! What about you guys? What have you been reading recently? Kat by Starlight
