  • One of the best things about selling my trilogy to Hyperion is how awesome my editor is. This morning, a huge package of Hyperion picture books arrived in the mail for Mr Darcy. Stories by Rosemary Wells, Mo Willems, and many more...they're all great, but my absolute favorite is "I'm Not Scared!", by Jonathan Allen, which is hilarious and very sweet. I'm now planning on hunting down all of Jonathan Allen's picture books. And I love my editor!

  • I have gotten completely addicted to the TV show The Tudors. Yeah, it is a trashy soap opera - but hey, it's a historical trashy soap opera, set in one of my favorite historical eras, and at 3am, when I'm struggling to keep my eyes awake while I feed Mr Darcy, it is just exactly what I need. I devoured the Season One box set last week, and Season Two is due to arrive at our house sometime this week. I can't wait!

  • This has been a week of re-reading old favorites. I re-read Georgette Heyer's Black Sheep last night (I'm doing a lot of things at night nowadays!) and it was funny and charming and romantic. (And set in Bath, for extra credit points!) Today I've been re-reading Robin McKinley's The Blue Sword for the first time in 15 years - and, wow. It was one of my very favorite books when I was a teenage girl, so I was a little nervous about re-reading it (what if the magic was gone, and I spoiled all my good memories by re-reading it?), but I shouldn't have been. It is SO much fun - and it's turning out to be one of those books that makes me really want to write, myself. I probably won't be doing any serious writing for at least another month or so (see: all my nighttime wakefulness and absolute exhaustion!) but it's great to feel inspired again.

  • Maya is an absolute angel. She's curious about Mr Darcy, in the friendliest way, but she's also gentle and careful with him. When he cries, she gets really concerned, and if he cries hard enough, she runs to fetch her best toys for him, to try to cheer and distract him. She's getting only a tiny fraction of her normal attention & cuddle time, but she's been calm and uncomplaining, and hasn't acted jealous at all. She is such a good, good dog.

  • I'm hoping to write a real journal entry soon, but right now, typing one handed, bullet points are about all I can manage.
