Somebody asked me the other day what I like to read. Thoreau's Blog, a daily selection from the writings of Henry David Thoreau, has a great description today of spring lightning and thunderstorm near his home in Massachusetts:
"Advancing summer strikes on the edge of winter, which does not drift fast enough away, and fire is elicited". When I'm at a loss for words or writing ideas, I often turn to Thoreau to see what subject he might be writing about. The blog has been online for several years. I found it after reading his personal journal, which I have now read through three times. When I want to sharpen my awareness of what lies close by me, or just want to get better at focusing on the precious little things in life, I usually find my inspiration in his writing.
