2014-01-11 7:31 AM Reading List Read/Post Comments (4) |
More sunny days ahead, starting with this one today, while next Tuesday is forecast to be in the high 70s. Winter doesn't have much of a grip on us and I miss some of that. I like having a few rainy days when the indoor world feels like an inviting place to be. This sunshine makes me feel guilty being indoors, at a time of the year when I'm psyched up for reading in front of the fireplace.
I jotted down a new reading list for this winter, based on an article I read in Flipboard Magazine, about books that might "transform your sad life, by "containing wisdom that will alleviate anxiety". I'm not exactly sure what the author intends for me to become transformed into after I have burned my way through his list. I see that I have already read or owned several of these books, so my own transformation must have begun quite a few years ago, but here it is, his New Years Reading List:
I am reading Knausgaard first just because the reviews on Amazon for his book play him up to be one amazing writer. I read Seneca all the time, while it's been a few years since I ventured into Camus, Hemingway, and Fromm. I may not get to all of these this winter. There is too much nice weather to sit still for that long. And then, of course, there are all the wonderful books I have already downloaded, and stacked away with such neat organization on my Kindle, but have not found time to open and read.
