When passing border security laws such as a real and/or a virtual fence across the Mexican/Canadian borders, please don't forget to fully fund it and follow through! Get real about finding out who is in this country legally and who is not. When thinking about a Democracy in America, remember that our voting system has been broken for so many years, it has undermined our way of life. Who can trust a system that has no way to verify the results and which can demonstrably be "hacked" to give one side an undeserved result through "bit-stuffing", the high tech equivalent of "ballot-stuffing"? Not to mention a system that results in the Supreme Court deciding on the outcome. Isn't it time that we have REALLY fair elections; open, transparent, accurate, verifiable? An election which ACCURATELY gives the will of the People? I believe it's high time that big money is disallowed from buying political favors, from assisting corrupt government officials to be elected (or re-elected) using Corporate funds? Why do Corporations have the right to ANY political "free-speech" at all? The People shouldn't have to compete with any Corporations to have our say! The revolving door from Public Empoloyee to Lobbyist should be banned! No more lobbyists at all! If you, as an American Citizen, (not a fictitious legalization such as a "Corporation") want to let your duly elected representative what you want, do it yourself! Don't hire people by the hundreds (for Millions of Dollars), to "buy" votes. This is not a Democracy we want to hand down to our Children and Grandchildren! Clean it up now! Let's have ethical tests for any potential government official BEFORE they are appointed or elected. Does anyone think Karl Rove or ("Go F**k yourself") Dick Cheney, could pass an ethics test? And hasn't George Bush shown us we should have a minimum INTELLIGENCE test given to our potential leaders? While we may never get to a true "Meritocracy", where we elect the BEST possible leaders, we can sure weed out people who got into Harvard or Yale because of their family's wealth, and then averaged a low "D" throughout their college years. In my opinion, if we can spend a Half A Trillion Dollars (projected to be at least $1T before we're out of Iraq, much of it unaccounted for) on a Civil War in Iraq, we can surely afford Universal Health Care for our own Citizens! I could go on... Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
