"No Rest For The Wiki..."

I am looking for a searchable site on the web, wherein one might specify a certain date in history and get an idea of what was in the news on that day.

This example site seems to give an important fact for some years, but not others, and it seems to be maintained by one individual or a closed community.

What I'm really looking for is a "Wiki", where each "article" or "topic" would be a date in human history.

As users edited the site, each current day could be filled with what was going on, on that particular day, with attributed links and fully searchable for key words and phrases.

Daily upkeep of such a wiki, after inception, would be a daily journal of topical news, events, and certain other categories, such as Celebrity Birthdays, or Signigicant Anniversaries, but it's the filling in of what went on before inception that would be very interesting to me.

If anyone in the Wiki Community has thoughts on creating such a project, I'd be willing to work toward such a project.
