2001-09-14 5:39 PM A Letter Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Contemplative I wrote this letter to a 12 year old little girl.
A little girl whom I do not even know.
Please see my previous entry if you are wondering why. Hello Brigid, I read about your offer to help out the people in New York. I wanted to let you know that I am really really proud of you. I read the story that your dad wrote about you while sitting here at work. I was truly touched by your generosity. I'm 23, and live in LA. I work only a couple of blocks away from LAX Airport and live a short ways from Downtown LA. I was touched because, although I have made donations to charities before, PAL (a fund for Police Officers and their community projects), World Wildlife Org., and a few other ones, I cannot recall if I've ever shared more than 30 dollars of my money to any one organization. I wanted to let you know what I donated today, because of your letter:
50 dollars went to United Way of New York, The September 11th Fund I also printed out the Supplied List at www.nyrock.com/worldbeat/09_2001/091401.asp I'm going to take it around my apartments and see what we can gather. I don't make tons of money. I didn't really think I would be able to do much to make a difference, but I must say your willingness to help and your generosity really pushed me to contribute what I can. Be well. Take care of your parents for me. I hope everyone that you know knows what a big difference you can make, even by offering whatever you can, how ever much it is. Don't EVER lose that wonderful generosity. When we grow up, we tend to forget about being generous, and we often need little girls like you to put us on the right track again.
