Day started off bad. Woke up late (set the alarm for PM instead of AM), missed the bus. The bus that I did catch hit a kitten on the way to work (I saw the kitten, the bus did try to swerve, I didn't see the actual hit, but other riders said they did), had to deal with a delinquent yet demanding customer that half a dozen people were already running around like chickens about, and I still feel yucky even though I was in bed since like 8 last night. I hate being sick, everything about it. I hate the pre-sick feeling where you just don't feel right, but can't really place it, and are just in denial that you are coming down with something. I hate the full blown being sick feeling where there is no doubt that you're ill, you're running a fever, you hurt all over, your tummy doesn't like to have anything in it, and you can't really do much about it except for be miserable and useless for a while. I really hate the "kinda gettin better" stage where you're just tired, yucky feeling, can't do much of anything except keep up, well enough to go to work but once you get there you wanna go home, cold medicine knocks you out more than it helps with the symptoms kinda feeling. It all totally blows. I have decided however, that I should look into devising a plan for cold medicine that doesn't taste like cold medicine. Although it is amazing that I have no problems shooting tequila, and don't have much in the way of a gag reflex (hold your comments, I've heard them all before ;) ), I have a real aversion to cough syrup and cold medicine. I had to stare down a bottle of NyQuil last night while I mustered up the courage to take some. Why try making it taste sweet when it still tastes bad, gross, syrupy and bitter? If you can't make it taste exactly like candy why not just give up and make it taste like a liquor? I wouldn't mind a little salt and lime with my NyQuil shot. It would beat the "almost sweet but not quite" taste that just stays there. In other news, Stacy's visiting this weekend. YAY! I've been under the weather, so totally forgot that her visit was this coming weekend. It should be great seeing her again. Looks like Push, Nevada might not make it through it's full season. It's a great show, and it is an ongoing mystery game, but the ratings haven't been too great, it is up against CSI as far as it's time slot for starters, but we'll see. It'll suck if it gets cancelled. Just got some other news, looks like some people in the company were cut today. There were at least three from this office, one in particular, a dear friend of mine. I so totally hate it when that happens. None from my group (tech support) have been yanked, yet, but we'll see. They're still far from getting their shite together for this group if you ask my opinion. I'm not really scared if the ax comes down on me because I'm prepared, but I haven't really been job hunting much before so may run into challenges if I am suddenly without work. Keeping my eyes open, fingers crossed, and knocking on wood though. Good luck guys! I'm sure you'll all do great in more stable (and hopefully more enjoyable) employment!!!! Let me know if you need anything. Gonna get some lunch now. Maybe I'll feel better later. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
