There were some parts of my for day weekend that went well. There was a 5 part Werewolf LARP this weekend, and for the most part, it was very fun. This game is way deeper than Vamp has ever been. There is so much to do, so many things to do, so much politics happening, it's just been wild. Of course, the game is often too busy, and when I say too busy, what I really mean is the "its 2 AM you fell asleep on the couch OMG are these people going to ever stop running their scene and just call game" and the "we played Wed, Thurs, and Friday, does Saturday night's game really have to drag on till 4 AM?" types of busy. When you're not directly involved in the group finishing up the pit raid or Umbral quest, sometimes you've simply had enough of being at a game. I actually took today off from the game, because I HAD to do something else this weekend. I also mean too busy in the sense that the groups were too busy playing and the group that was supposed to be watching the stuff upstairs (bags, backpacks, purses) was too busy playing in the other side of the building upstairs to notice one of the bags, mine in fact, walked away. That's right, within the course of a few hours, with about 20 people there, my purse got stolen. I just took cash out for the week (about a hundred bucks), I just bought a Tori Amos ticket from a great friend (who really felt bad afterwards, but she was great for getting the ticket for me in the first place, she should just beat up whoever winds up sitting next to her :) I may just go anyways and sit in the seat that I originally bought, and stare down whoever shows up for it), I happened to have two checkbooks in there (one for an account with a fairly large amount in it), my Soc Sec card (I had it in there to make a photocopy and never took it back out), my ID, my USC ID (goodbye student ticket prices), my driver's permit (I haven't had enough trouble getting that thing straightened out), my form from the eye doctor so I could take the behind the wheel test (will have to get another one), 5 credit cards, random stuff (but it was MY stuff), 3various gift certificates, Blockbuster card, all office and apartment keys, pretty much everything. I just bought the new purse Tuesday. Now, I realize that in general, the game is going really well and as such noone is idle and standing around watching stuff, so I'm not very upset with anyone in particular, just a little bitter that out of all of the stuff that was there, it was my stuff that was missing. I do adore my friends though. They felt really bad, and took up a collection at the game the following day, so I could at least have some cash on me and to defer som of the expense of getting my bag stolen. They put together about 70 dollars (and whatever they manage to put together today, I skipped the game but they said they'd still be putting money together). I'm quite impressed, and am glad that they care to do something like that for me. So, the purse was stolen Friday. Thursday went as follows: Mom called at 8, 9, 10, 11, and one other time in between there. She was intent on me making a trek down to where she lives for Thanksgiving, the first she has had practically. At first, I was going to be okay with seeing her for Thanksgiving, but things got complicated. Her and Misty had a falling out. I wasn't too thrilled with how she has been treating Misty, or any of my siblings for that matter. My b/f had to work all day, so I would not have had a ride. The trains were not running, but she figured that I should be able to do a Greyhound trip. (Um, no.) On Wednesday, when I was still considering going out to see her, she called me up and said that I HAD to be there at 10 AM. 10. A-M... Thanksgiving breakfast? WTF are you spazing about Mom? So, as much as I would have loved to go out to see her, there was no way I was going to be in transit for 2 and a half hours to get there by 10 AM, or by 2 (which, as she called me that morning, she said as long as I get there by 2 it would be OK). I was really tired, because I didn't get home till 4 AM to begin with. She was stressing about getting me out there, and getting Misty out there. Misty did finally wind up going out there. I decided that it wasn't happening, and went back to bed. So, I talked to my sister that evening, and she told me about the wonderful Thanksgiving Day Lunch Special that she had at Home Town Buffett, and spent over 2 hours getting to. She then went on about the wonderful conversation dynamics that went on. It was her, my mom, my mom's husband, my little bro, and his girlfriend. When my little bro and his g/f left the table, my mom's husband would rant about how much he hated that g/f, and my mom would bitch about the happy couple as well. When my mom and her husband left the table, my little bro and his g/f would rant about how much they hate living there, bitch about my mom and her husband, and here was Misty, in the middle of it all. I read, watched some TV, worked on the game website. At 8 I headed out to the Werewolf LARP. My Thanksgiving Day dinner consisted of one piece of KFC, some homemade stuffing, and some Trader Joe's cheesecake. Simple and splendid, and no family to fuck around with. The other players started showing up after their day's festivities. The game went a little long, as they mostly do, but it was fun. Today I'm doing the final touches for the website. When I'm done I'm getting the opinions of others involved in the game, then it will be going live. I'm really proud of the game, although since we took the week off for clues, etc, the players are getting restless, and are even spreading rumors that the game is in danger of folding. No clue where the rumors came from, but with a new site and new clue showing up tomorrow, things should be back to normal. So there's my weekend, not exactly in order, but there ya go. If anyone has any suggestions for what to do when your stuff gets stolen, besides canceling cards and accounts, and setting up fraud alerts with the credit agencies, feel free to post a comment. I think I have all of my angles covered, but you never know. Back to web design madness. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
