I love that show, and as soon as I can afford the 95 dollars per seat for 90% of the seats there, I'm going to go again.
Sure, Jason Alexander is no Nathan Lane, but he definitely held his own for that show, which is a very demanding show both physically and vocally. Oh, speaking of vocal, Martin Short can fuckin' sing! He was a bit spazzy, but I didn't expect him to be as understated as Matthew Brodrick portrayed the character, but he was funny. The musical numbers were great. Even if you are not familiar with what the show uis all about, you should still go and see it. It was fun, I bounced along to a lot of the music, and Erik and I made a good observation... Los Angeles audiences need to loosen the fuck up. People were barely laughing or moving. Most were dressed up and being very stoic, which doesn't help the actors I'm sure. When we saw this in New York, along with the other shows, those audiences seemed more relaxed and were having more fun it seemed. I know that they're more of a "theatre city" but still, LA can relax for a couple of hours cant it? And while I'm at it, LA needs to have more theatre and have it be more accessible (i.e. less than 95 bucks for a ticket) Also, Urinetown is coming to town, and I think you all should see that one too, I saw it in New York and it was great. Boy I'm going to miss not having my season subscription to the theatre next year, it's been awesome and has saved me a lot of money, but it costs a bit all in one shot in order to keep it up. A Joke for your amusement (well okay, for my amusement really) A little turtle begins to climb a tree slowly. After long hours of effort, he reaches the top, jumps into the air waving his front legs, until he plunges into the ground with a thud. After recovering his consciousness, he starts to climb the tree again, jumps again, and knocks the ground heavily again. The little turtle tried again and again, climbing again after each drop. Meanwhile, a couple of birds were sitting at the edge of a branch, looking the turtle with pain. Suddenly the female bird says to the male, "Dear, I think it's time to tell our little turtle he is adopted." Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
