Apparently, I am the only person in management with practical problem solving skills and a working knowledge of our customer bases and what is involved in supporting them. I have encountered rude, patronizing, stubbon people all over the place, and most of them work for my company. It's just been really difficult getting anything done lately.
Why do I get all of the big problems to tackle? Even so, it keeps seeming that little by little, responsibilities are being moved from my group to the other groups. They took over dedicated server support, but keep coming to us for help on any major issues. Everyone but us will be moved away from our ticketing system by the end of the year. I'm sure they'd automate some of the things we take care of, but they don't exactly have the resources or know how. *sigh* Wrtestle one thing at a time I guess. I received a phone call from some lawyer, who would only give me her first name, asking me questions about my apartment complex, and asked if I knew anything about someone who had drowned in our pool a few months ago. I barely learned about that happening a week or so ago, and was a little confused as to how they got my cell number. She started asking questions about security, and then asked if I would be willing to let her in to look around. I said I didn't know anything and would have to check if Erik knew anything, but didn't say that I would let her in. She didn't even say which law firm she belonged to. I really don't want to get involved either. I'm sure they could work with management or get a court order to check out the place, I wouldn't want to my my tennancy in trouble with working with them if they're planning on suing the apartment building. I'm not really sure whether I should have said as much as I did, but after thinking it over, although I would want to help out, I'm not sure this should involve us at all. Going to Belinda's after work today tosee if I can pull off networking their machines and DSL. I, in theory, know exactly what to do, but haven't ever had the opportunity to do it. After that, it's off to Pasadena to get some books signed by Terry Pratchett! Erik's a big fan and has read so much, but I've only read a few things of his so far. His Discworld books are funny and cleverly written, and I'm looking forward to this. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
