Now, that being said, I've spent many hours over the past week, around stage managing and other stuff for the production company, scheduling a casting call in New York for the company's first feature film. That's right folks, official Hollywood business. No pay, long hours, and I dont even get to go to New York. I've been compiling actor submissions, calling actors in New York to schedule times, and compiling those into a schedule that will be promptly thrown out thte window during the one day of madness at the audition. (Just my opinion, there's already over 400 submissions, and everyone gets a call, and ther'e doing the audition one day, 9 to 5) I'm beside myself at how very simple instructions can be totally ignored. I'm beside myself that actors bother to send their headshot, but fail to send contact info, or even indicate which part they would like to audition for, even though instructions are clearly stated in every posting of this show. It's also amazing at how much extraneous information an actor attepts to put into the submission. There's a lot of professional brown nosers in this industry. And to top it off, the email server is so very very slow. I've litereally typed this up between 4 emails loading in the silly web based email program. Okay, off to more wonderous work compiling names. If I didn't work days, I'd be calling these people too, but my nine-to-fiver (which is unusual in the company where everyone works at a coffee place or waits tables or has odd hours) prevents me from doing so (not that I totally couldn't get away with making the calls in my office at work). But anyways, back to work. Oh, and to catch people up... Both shows went well. We even had an audience of 5 during the Christmas Parade when all roads were closed and we were ready to call it all off (the show must go on I suppose). I've finished Buffy. It was very sad. I'm half way through second season of West Wing. I'm really digging that show. I'm realizing now why I no longer watch sitcoms. I need intelligent TV. That's all there is to it. Okay, seriously now. Back to work for me. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
