2005-07-19 9:02 AM Two Turntables and an Offer Letter Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (4) So as I suspected, I got an offer letter for the job in Santa Monica. I'm looking at it right now. It pays more than I was making in Anaheim, it has better benefits, vacation time, and other perks that Anaheim didn't even come close to matching.
There is still an opportunity in the works for a position in Anaheim Hills, but it is not as solid as I'd like it to be. It has potential opportunities, but starts out on a bit less than what I was looking for. It's an entirely different industry, which is interesting, and intimidating, and I like challenges. But even as cool as it sounds, it seems to all be coming down to it pays less and is way farther. And to think I found both of these leads when asking people I used to work with if I could use them as references. I should have asked them way before the other job went away. It's not like I didn't see it coming. So it looks like I start Monday. Less than an hour by bus. Once I get trained, my shift will have me done and home (or at the theater) by 5 each day. They were looking for someone who can do a rather early shift, and I'm all over that. :) I'm currently copying music from NickB's CD collection while it is still at my place during this journal entry and other email and journal reading whatnot. He's got all sorts of stuff that I had on tape in highschool, and never got around to getting on CD. All sorts of nostalgia. It's fantastic. I took him to Comic-Con on Saturday for his birthday, a first for him. We headed out at 7:30 AM, and this is after being up to get our copies of Harry Potter at midnight at Barnes and Noble (which he read until 5). Comic Con was neat. We wandered around for almost 2 hours, then pretty much stayed in the big presentation hall the rest of the day. There were a LOT of cool things going on, starting with Kevin Smith, the whole cast of Firefly (minus one, because he's on Broadway in Spamalot right now) and Joss Whedon, The cast from Stealth including Jamie Fox. Adrien Brody, Naomi Watts, and Jack Black from King Kong, and then Tenatious D did a set. We went to dinner at Dick's Last Resort, and then went to Spike and Mike's animation before heading home. Whew. And wow, let me just say that I've never seen an acadamy award winning actor get so snubbed in my entire life. Between the people who went up to the mic to tell Naomi that she's hot, or to tell Jack Black that he fucking rocks their world, or to ask if Kyle Glass (the other guy in TD) was in King Kong (this was asked at least twice), I think there was only one good question that someone asked Brody. He was pretty much ignored. So, my week will be a lot of de-cluttering of my stuff, both the stuff in my room and the stuff in storage. Hopefully we can get the carpet in this week, it's been waiting forever and I hate having my livingroom books packed in boxes in stacks that are hard to get to. Today I've got to hit the post office and... dammit, now I forgot, but it's vaguely important so I'm sure I'll remember. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
