2005-12-20 11:19 AM Stork Visits and Pomegranate Vodka Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Contemplative Read/Post Comments (6) So I got a visit by a stork yesterday.
A real one, not a "figurative" one. Don't panic. :) He was absolutely gorgeous. He landed in the grass next to the duck pond right outside of my office building. Skinny and tall (at least 4 feet tall) and pure white, which may make it a crane and not a stork (unsure) and had I not been so awed by how pretty he was, I prolly would have remembered that I had a camera on my phone and snapped a picture. I came back less than an hour later but he was already gone. I am glad I got a chance to see him. I wonder where he lives. (I wonder if it is actually a he or a she) I wonder if a brief stork/crane visit is good luck. Last night's department party was pretty cool. Free drinks and wonderful appetizers for a few hours. Nothing to excess, just enough filet minion bits to want a real good steak, and discovered a fabulous drink, Pomegranate Vodka. The party was at a vodka bar, that had about 200 kinds of vodka. I forgot to get the brand of the pomegranate that I had, but I'll prolly hit the place at some point next time I'm in the down town santa monica area. Before the party, I went to the doctor to follow up on me being sick for the past many days. Over the past month, I had a cold, that turned into a bad congenstion thing, that got better, till I got the flu shot (I should have listened to some sound advice), then it got worse, then it cleared up, then I was having terrible tummy issues for 5 days. What I initially thought was a touch of stomach flu turned out to be a lingering bacterial something or other from something that I ate, and when I finally went to urgent care on Saturday morning, they gave me some antibiotics and anti-nausea which seem to have done the trick. All checks out well. Also got a new perscription for my insomnia issues, because the last one was just bad and problematic (breathing issues and lingering bad taste), and the side effects of the one before that gave me memory problems. I'll try the new one out, and we'll see if it helps. I'll be researching it today to see what the side effects are and success rates. One of my goals for next year is to really get a ritual of yoga or relaxation down, or something natural like the accupressure points I tried a while back. I don't generally like having to rely on pills for much, but know that they can be useful. Anyways. It's a short work week, and then Christmas, and then a short work week, and then Vegas! It will be 2006 before I realize it! Read/Post Comments (6) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
