Enjoy the ride. Currently, I live in a small 'crossroad' town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I'm raising a wonderful son, cultivating a promissing career in Real Estate and enjoying every day! I'm involved in many community activities, charitable organizations and do LOTS of Yoga! Life is a great ride. Things change, I adapt and follow the 'road' with love and humility. Mood: Excited Read/Post Comments (1) FAVORITE WORDS TO LIVE BY: |
2003-02-23 6:35 AM The Starry Night I have always loved the painting by Vincent Van Gogh, "The Starry Night". In fact, years ago, I bought a print of it. I had no particular spot for it, but I have known that I always want it to be in my life somewhere. I know that it is not the usual favorite among most, but to quote a line from "The Thomas Crown Affair", "I just like my "Haystacks", Bobbie."
One of the fascinating things to me about art is that - with the good ones - words cannot express the emotion, beauty, and truth as well. To be honest, I have been searching for the words to descibe my affection for this painting for some time. It does not do the painting, or Van Gogh justice for me to expound my simple views on it, but the best way I can describe my fondness for it is, that to me, it echos the extravagance of the heavens and puts into perspective our significance in the universe. It has a certain bitter-sweet truth that I think Van Gogh understood. Seeing my print and knowing how I like this painting, my good friends, Rebekah and Kian, gave me the most thoughtful gift - A 3.5' x 4.5' oil on canvas copy of "The Starry Night"! I absolutely love it. I don't think I can ever get tired of looking at it. I am so excited - I just had to share it..... Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
