I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42

The Empire of Ice Cream

I decided to read a piece of short fiction tonight, and came across The Empire of Ice Cream by Jeffery Ford. Now I was taken with this story from the first paragraph as the writing project I've put the most energy into recently involves sensory manipulation. When Ford brought in fugues, I knew I'd be reread this story often in the future. I like plot structures based on concepts. Here the plot structure is most definately a fugue. I love it!!! The ending brings to mind a Greg Egan short story, the title of which escapes me. Have you read it yet? What are you still doing here Go read it!!!

Still here?

Tuesday, after a wonderful morning and a fruitful day at work, I was euphoric as I headed to assist the Tae Soo Do classes. I ended up leading the warmups and passing on all my positive energy to all the students in both the beginning and intermediate classes. I'd forgotten how good it feels to be that happy.

This morning I had planned on heading out to the beach again, but it was raining when I woke, and so I slept for another few hours. Sleep is good. Work today was productive. I finally got my cousin's website live again. I shared the first Harry Dresden book with a friend, who loved it and is going to pass it along to another friend. In the process I introduced him to bookcrossing.

All for now...
