I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42 | ||

2003-06-10 3:21 PM Liberty: A Love Story I watched a very thought provoking play last night, called 'Liberty: A Love Story' put on by the 11th hour theatre company. My cousin, and a friend from work both had roles and gave great performances. I may try to see it again during the Saturday performance.
Quoting the promotional materials: Liberty: A Love Story, a project of The 11th Hour Theater Company, is spoken word fable that creatively exposes the complex lives of people of color and women in the United States. The story begins with numerous "suitors" courting the Lady America. Each suitor must deal with both the negative and positive aspects of their relationship with this woman. The play dissects what it means to be an "American" and exhibits people of color and women negotiating their agency as Americans. Grounded in research and lived experience, the play combines spoken word, live music, dance, and theater to create stories of individuals who are finding their power and redefining the meaning of hope and love for themselves and their communityThere are still a few more showings: Wednesday June 11th 8pm The Flight Theater @ The Complex 6472 Santa Monica Boulevard Hollywood, CA 90038 $5 Donation suggested Saturday June 14th 5:30pm St Elmo Village 4830 St. Elmo Drive Los Angeles, CA 90019 $5 Donation suggested Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
