I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42

Archimedes

I think that was the name of the owl in TH White's The Once and Future King, but I'm pretty certain it'll be the name of my new powerbook.

It's been pointed out that I'm insane for getting a mac, but my reasoning begins like so:

  • I work all day in front of a PC, so it feels good to spend my time away from work in a different environment.
  • UNIX
    • I've run many, many distributions of Linux in the past. I'm comfortable with UNIX, and there are many UNIX tools that are disturbingly useful. I'll save many many minutes at work analysing logs and such, because it's just so easy to do things with a few simple commands that it's near impossible to do in Windows.
    • UNIX is fun :)
    • etc.
  • I write all my creative writing by hand. Partly this is because I love the feel of pen on paper, but mostly it stems from where I choose to write. I write where I can sit and watch people. It'll be great to be able to pull out Archimedes at the Cow's End or a bench on the 3rd Street Promenade...
  • Change. Change is good. Doing things that I love to do--web developing, writing, and tinkering with random programs--in different environment will provide a different set of inspirations.
Now to go use this thing for something other than updating my journal.
