I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42

Bike II

Riding along Venice Beach, many things caught my eye. I've observed surfers and joggers and such before, so something else stuck in my memory. Whenever I saw a group of kids making their way down the bike path, they all had drastically different modes of transportation. I saw a group with a stunt bike, a low-slung beach cruiser, a mountain bike and a pair a roller blades. Another group had 2 bikes, a skooter of some sort, and a very long skate board. I don't know what this means.

I made it home safely--my first round trip bike commute. Friday, I'm going to need my car, so tomorrow (actually today I guess) I'm going to ride the bike again. Over the weekend, I think I'm going to invest in an odometer for the bike. I also need to name my bike. This seems like a very important thing. I got some books from amazon and was delighted to be able to strap them to the handy rack thingy I installed on the back of my bike. The utility of my new contraption is enough to make me light headed. I guess that's okay, because I really should get some sleep.

I finished Jennifer Government. It was a tightly written, fast pased, darkly humorous look at a future that seems all to close--Two large collections of corporations vie for earth's collective paycheck while a few overworked, underpaid government employees try to save the world.

Listened to Muse today, among other things.
Started reading Reinventing Comics the sequel to Scott McCloud's wonderful Understanding Comics.
New books on my shelf:

Infinite in all Directions by Freeman Dyson
  • Revolution in Time -- Clocks and the Making of the Modern World by David S. Landes
  • The Myth of the Eternal Return -- Or, Cosmos and History by Mircea Eliade.
I'm looking forward to opening the birthday package my parents sent me. Now for the whole sleep thing.
