I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42

Well Geared Protection Paladin

I haven't played WoW in a few weeks. That's freed up a ton of brain space, but occasionally things slip in. From a chat log with Kenny:
3:23 PM Kenny: a protection paladin this morning used an abbreviation that I wasn't aware of... maybe you can shed some light.
me: light ... heh ... paladin
3:24 PM Kenny: He was a big raiding paladin who was slumming in normal Mechanar because he was bored
he mentioned he needed to change his gear to something more appropriate for 5 man because "SA was useless"
3:25 PM me: spiritual attunement
Kenny: Ahhhhh
me: basically, if he's geared too good, he won't take any damage
Kenny: makes sense now
me: and if he doesn't take damage he can't be healed
and if he's not healed he has no mana
Kenny: right
me: overheals don't count for SA
3:26 PM that's an interesting conundrum
That's obviously greek if you're not a WoW player or if you ARE greek, but for me it sets up a neat little metaphor. Think of any situation where having too much of something good keeps you from making effective use of anything good you can do. That's what this would be a metaphor ... for.

good morning.
