Words-of-Mine No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.280178 Curiosities served |
2014-01-12 11:08 AM Still Hanging In Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) So far my cold is not any worse than when I noticed it Friday night.
I did walk on Friday but yesterday I felt tired and chose to stay home. Hmm, resting is a strange bedfellow to me. I'm usually puttering around the apartment doing some type of cleaning or chasing Bailey around. But, it must be working since I am, at this point, not getting any worse. A thought has come to my mind when I realized that I am now the beginning of the elders of my family. There is one maternal uncle alive, mother is still hanging on though she has dementia. There have been times I want to call my Dad or my Great Aunt Dorothy or even my Granddad though we weren't close. It's hard to believe they have passed on. I miss being able to call them to remember things of my past or with Aunt Dorothy on how to cook something. Plus, she was the good one in keeping me in the loop of what was going on in that part of the family in Maine. I don't feel old enough to be 60 or to be part of the elder generation. How do you my readers in this age group feel about this topic? I have a subscription of Yankee New England's Magazine. The January/February issue has an article on "Classic Barns of Maine." Barns have always been a favorite of mine. Love the smell of hay and horses. Anyway, one of the barns they mention is at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Glouster, Maine. It states this is the only active Shaker community left in existence. I also bring this up because this was the last trip I made with my Granddad and Great Aunt Dorothy and my sister. It was a fun time as we took the tour and learned about the Shakers. They are a simple folk who work the land and keep themselves in the present moment. Now if I could do that. mz. em "There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy.Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living." -- Jose N. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again." - William Penn, English entrepreneur and philosopher +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
