Pilots have these so they can range, target, lock and destroy their targets. Without wasting a millisecond looking down at the instrument panel.

People have these so they can size up, judge and deal with other people. Without wasting a beat thinking about it.

Too often I have found myself walking around with little gauges telling me how far this or that person is from making me attempt to hurt him physically with whatever could conveniently be turned into a weapon. Thankfully, it's never been to that, or at least everything was bolted to the floor. (Haha.)

So you walk around, high and mighty, just fingering that little button that'll let rip some horrible self-styled warhead of doom, or sacarsm. You look at what your readouts tell you and oh joy, you could take out the whole room and still have enough to fire off at the victory parade.

Or so you think.

When really, the proper picture would be a child making threateningly machine-gun like noises while going, "WheeeEOOooooo..." with a aeroplane shaped piece of plastic.

Still, I think it's good to see what's going just below my surface. Lots of it still seems like a endless running list of mystical numbers (think Matrix) but they still add up to somehow equal what I do.

Maybe this is what they call the subconcious. Maybe it's habit.
