Old yeller

Headed out to my sister's with the boys at twilight. Grandma brought Rachel earlier. Aaron was having issues with not drinking and not brushing his hair, so he stayed home. Any time my sister is cooking is a time not to be missed. Stuffed mushrooms, shrimp, pizza, Swedish meatballs, wings, taco mess, fruit and veggies! An hour and a half later I was on the road again (with a bit of a tummy ache). Grandma would bring Rachel home in an hour. She was having fun with cousins and friends. I enjoyed the brief company of good people though no one was open about their resolutions, not that they're a requirement.

Grandma said she'd sit if I wanted to go with Aaron to the non-alcohol party. This would be a first for both of us. Rachel was invited as well. It was the most interesting mix of people. Like life. I was the prettiest, but without social lubricant, not the most enthralling. Heart, not looks, is priority with these people. All ages, colors, and backgrounds mingled. I couldn't have asked for a better time. The creeping discomfort made it perfect really. Raw. I was myself.

This time I asked about resolutions. I was the only one ready to admit to mine: the active goal to find alternatives to yelling.
