First off, I am not implying I am innocent here. People mean well. We all think we're Yoda until we learn otherwise. I learned otherwise when I couldn't single-handedly stop my husband's addiction. I couldn't even have a tiny iota of control over his choices, though I was tenacious as hell. We all do it. We all hate it done to us. No one knows what's best for anyone, how someone would be better off. It's so damn easy to think we have other people's answers. It's so damn hard to come up with our own. Teaching someone a lesson is manipulative. It's wanting to get them where we want them, which is with us. We only want them with us. We hate when someone tries to teach us a lesson because their approach to getting close to us is in disguise, which makes us uncomfortable. We don't know what they're hiding and if it will hurt us. What is under the disguise is a protected heart. The show is for protection, not deception. Loving their costume means finding their heart. They only want us with them.
