Yikes! I realized too late that Rachel hadn't done her math homework! It's actually a good thing (calm down, mama) because she depends on me too much to keep her on top of things. Hopefully this will make an impression. What am I saying! It's Rachel! It will.

I'm picturing her opening her folder to put finished homework in the basket like the other kids, seeing it undone, and quickly shoving it back into her folder, full of lonesome worry and woeful wonder.

And I saw the darn paper in her folder last night. Not only is it incomplete, someone ripped it out of a book with their feet, it looks like. Half the page is missing, which will probably be burned in her mind forever too. The Day of Half-Page Hell!

I imagine she'll attempt to blame me, but she often surprises me in the face of adversity. And she probably won't want to feel that dooming feeling again, so will make sure her homework is done in the future.

I couldn't have parented any better!
