This weekend marked the end of the summer swim season. C and T both swam in divisionals on Sat (relay, bfly, free and breast for C and relay, back and free for T).

C swam in invitationals Sunday (free, bfly and breast).

Of the 7 events, she was in the top 3 for 3 of them (would've been 4 if she hadn't DQed on one of them).

Div / Inv consisted of the fastest swimmers (had to make a certain time for a given stroke during the season to quality) from the Northwest Swim Circuits’ 12 teams. This is pretty competive – she ranked 6th in free and missed first place by about 0.9 of a second.

Yes, I'm a proud papa and given a childhood which seemed mostly to consist of demonstrations of how bad I was at sports (and I took these losses personally) I'm quite pleased that my children seem to have dodged that particular bullet so far.

Work wise I had a contract end this May w/some clients in New York and picked up a contract with some quants here in Austin (it turns out that one of the founders used to work with a friend I worked with @ Novell / Pervasive. Small world). Pretty intense - first job since my previous corporate employ in which my work product could feed into other developers (although so far they seem to be depending on my for final product).

Their platform is Linux - truly the first time I've had a job / contract in which I can build Linux development skills. That and the fact that they're dealing w/'big' banks gives me the feeling that I'm continuing to rise up into the 'big leagues'.
