Witnessing the Meltdown

To the Editors,

I read with interest Bill Bishop's latest article in the series "The Great Divide" [1].

I feel that one contribution to the continued polarization which was not mentioned is that Republicans appear to perceive a different Reality than the rest of us.

Whether it is Bush calling Ariel Sharon a 'man of peace' during the Jenin military operation or expressing his belief that Rumsfield is doing a good job following the Abu Ghraib revelations the Bush administration cleary believes that they are "an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality." [2]

Where's Dr. Phil when you need him?
